Shunted from behind

Got my quotes sorted.....
£1700 from VX
£250 from CED (reverse cam)

I've got PDF's of both quotes and sent them to the 3rd party now and stressed that I need a decision soon.

On the plus side if they choose now that they aren't going to pay, VX have their own insurance handley claim people so I'll use them to save me some drama.

Fingers crossed this works out

Who predicted she wouldn't pay?
You were right.

I've now given VX the nod to go through their accident handling company.

And right now she's probably telling her partner/mum/dad/friends how she is being ripped off by some guy cos she only touched his bumper at like 5 mph and there was only a tiny scrape and there's no way it could cost nearly £2000 to fix. Innit.

Indeed good stuff.

You gotta keep in mind that the majority of people are quite poor and wouldn't entertain a £300 bill let alone something that is going to be as big as yours.

awww mate :( gutted to hear that!

now find the closely specced, well priced examples to get a real world pay out for it and not the peanuts they'll offer you :p

...I guess the impact was slightly higher than 5mph to do 2 grands worth of damage!

New bumper, new cross member, pulling spare wheel well out, paint cost, brackets, labour. The car has been "valued" at £2200 and examples like mine are going for £2800-£3000 so I'm going to push for that.

THe insurance company will only repair to 66% of the value of the vehicle. Gutted is the word that is closest to my feelings.

What is the estimate of the costs to repair the car?
If it's similar to the car's value, then you can push them to repair it as you're claiming from their insurer aren't you? You haven't signed any terms of conditions with their insurer which allows them to write off the vehicle - only your insurer can force you into that.

This, if that suits you. Taking the full value and changing your car does often seem more attractive though.

No pics to hand.
I can believe the garage quote as the main dealer quoted me about the same, I don't know how the costs sound unreal though. It's split the cross member and the bumper is creased in a few places and the spare wheel well is dented in. By the time parts are replace and then paint and labour is calculated, I think £2k is coming in on the "lean" side.

Because I'm going through a claims handler its them who won't repair more than 66% of the value of the vehicle so I can't force it, even though it would be the other persons insurance paying it eventually, it's the claim handlers cash in the mean time.

**Update though..

I pushed back and the engineers have now increased the value of the write off to £2500, not a lot but it'll help.
Insurance company will handle getting my plate back (saving me £120) and I'm going to get my stuff out of it on Saturday.
