Shure E4c's Replaced by SE310's Under Warranty, Would You Keep Them?

I have the E3c, E4c and E500. The E4c sounds similar to the SE310, I would keep it.

E3c= muffled highs
E4c= more refined highs and lows
E500= Too good to describe, just have to buy one and listen to it.

I have E4c's and E500's (I got them for the same price from USA) and if you like your high's you may well be disappointed with the E500's, the top end is just not as good as E4c's. In fact most of it is missing on the E500's, no idea why shure rolled it off so much.

I also own super.fi 5 pro's and these best them both imo, bass is a tad muddy compared with E500's but everything else is better, mainly soundstage, the width of sound beats some proper cans imo.

Still the E500's are good value at £170 which is why I bought them, shame they get little use.

I too have e500, and while they are amazing, I personally find the highs a tad rolled off, but then I tend to like my music on the bright side. The bass on them really is incredible.

I've heard of plenty of people over at head-fi.org being offered the chance to upgrade their shure headphones when they send a pair in for repair, paying some kind of charge, but maybe that's a US thing only.

Out of interest how did you contact shure about getting a repair as on my e500s the cable has come loose, as when I emailed them before they never responded.

Seems to be a problem Shure are having at the moment, I recently sent my E5's in for replacement (1 1/2 years old, one channel died) and their service monkey replaced them with some SE420's, considering they retail at about 100 pounds cheaper than the E5s I was pretty hacked off, I also can't get custom tips put onto them either, so they are useless for my purposes.

One quick call to Shure and they agreed to send out a set of SCL5's which are the new E5's, basically the same product with a different model number, and they even let me keep the SCL420s as a good will gesture :)

If you're looking for something to try other than the Shures you might consider UltimateEars, I've been using their custom made UE10s and soon UE11s (just waiting for them to clear customs here:)) for the last couple of years and they are fantastic, might be worth considering some of their generic products.

I wasn't offered an upgrade, because if they did, I would have taken them up on the offer.

I called their customer service number (01992 703058), they took all my details down, gave me an RMA number, pretty easy really.
