Shutdown / Restart Problem

Right another problem if i want to shutdown / Restart my PC i have to press the button twice in start menu. The first time just shuts down a few programs the second does the required tasks. Whats causing this Thanks.

What OS you using? vista by any chance?

Edit: just seen your sig presume its xp home?

your sig is too big 4 lines max m8

click start then run
type msconfig go to the startup tab and disable everything u dont need ( i disable everything) click apply and ok
it will ask you to restart once you have restarted click the box and ok then try shutting down

This is a common fault if your using skype, if you have it on your machine, disable it.

Yeah i am using skype , uninstalled all is fine how do i get it too work properly.
