Shutter button problem

Hm, my 30D requires a pretty hard press to fully depress (half press takes no pressure at all, but after fully pressing the button nothing happens until I push pretty hard).

You can try it first :p

But with 99% alcohol I foresee no problems occurring.

I'll give it a go, will have to wait until the new year. Brother works in a lab so I'll get him to bring some home :)

This thread might come useful.

I started it back in 2007 when my shutter button started to become unresponsive after 1 year of usage.

It has been crawling along for 5 years now. I use the back * button as focus, and use the shutter only for capturing and this has helped to minimize the risk of moisture and dirt getting into the shutter button elements.

Good luck.

I've had my 30D for a few years now, and recently the shutter button has lost it's responsiveness.

Has anyone actually tried this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tB_gSqyidI0

Thought I'd ask if anyone has repaired it themselves before I start pouring alcohol into my camera.

Thanks

Iam tempted to try this on my 40d, as I too have a sticky shutter button. It's generally ok but sometimes it fails to fire
