Shuttle Core 2 Duo options?

Am I right in saying theres only 1 Conroe supported Shuttle at the moment? Thats all good and well, but I don't need or want 2 x PCIe 16 slots, and don't want to pay the premium for them a la sn26p.

At the moment I've got an sn45g, which has been totally awesome, a 2500+ athlon, and an x800xt pe, but it's starting to show its age. It appears like Conroe will be leading the way for a while, and with the excellent price/performance ratio and its potential for overclocking, it seems like the only way to go. But I love everything about Shuttle and there no way I'll go back to a tower.

Would you recommend I stick it out with what I've got, get the Conroe Shuttle that should be in OcUK very very soon, or go with a sn25p AMD solution? My money is limited so looking for best price/performance. Help is greatly appreciated :)

why not go for one of the many mATX conroe boards due out soon and get a sugo case or somethin? much cheaper, and will offer you the best performance to price i reckon

hence why i suggested the sugo. very nice lookin (especially in black :)) and their not hugely big either.

their possibly the closest to the quality looks of the SN45G (my all time fav shuttle in terms of performance and looks :))

check out the ones in the gallery at the top of the main page. ones been modded with a VFD in the front, very nice indeed, and the other is watercooled with a res on top i believe??

Sorry to hijack but can you give any info on these boards you speak of?

theres a few of them comming out, a gigabyte one, and a few made by intel as far as i have seen and heard. theres a few threads dotted around this forum about them.

the Intel DG965OT is one that i know of

but if you go on the intel website and do a search on there it should list all the intel boards and even the gigabyte one

sorry i cant give ya any more info, but a quick forum search or google and you should find them :)

ive been waiting a while for an sli matx mobo

have been using various shuttles since 2002, SS51G which i sold 2 months ago, 41G2, SB75G but they all were preety much around £230 mark and shuttle prices have just kept on rocketing. shame but at those prices matx is the cheaper option. mobo upgrades are possible as well

Its a rather interesting board that (s939 SLI MATX) but the early ones were plauged with problems. The later ones seem ok but then again it may be better waiting to see if anyone releases a Core 2 Duo SLI board.

You can bet the shuttle's will demand a high price when first released.

hopefuly though should be som good mATX boards coming along shortly.

I think there are already some mATX Conroe boards available on OcUK.

Abit LG-81
Asus P5VD2-MX
Asus P5LD2-SE
Asus P5LD2-VM
Asrock Conroe945G-DVI

Those are the ones I can find.

Well, you're not going to get the usual overclocks you could expect from a full ATX tower anyway.

The problem seems to be a lack of chipsets, all so far are 945 based (which have a max FSB of 299), VIA, or SiS.

From Intel's site, G965 boards are incoming. Expect these to be more what you're looking for.

Asus P5B-VM is in the works I think (Intel G965 chipset). Hopefully they won't be too expensive when they first come out.

Shame they don't make any mATX boards with the P965 chipset instead.

It's not possible, I think there are design limitations with certain chipsets.

Hence why there is a P and a G version of the 965 chipset.

What does the P stand for? I thought the G965 was the same as the P version but with added integrated graphics.

Anyway, Froogled for the Asus P5B-VM and only 1 place has it listed for £98.70! Bit too expensive for me. Hopefully it will come down once it is widely available.

:(

Money is waiting... all the other parts are in stock. I just need a G965 board!!!

I've been tempted to go for the 945 or VIA board, but seeing the results the 965 owners have been getting (Gigabyte DS3) I think the wait may be a better choice.

i am in the same position as you, i am waiting for the price of the asus to lower or for the above intel board which has built in SM3 graphics hopefully they will be good clockers just like their bigger brothers
