Shuttle Memory Issues

Mrs has the same shuttle and same problem with that memory.

If you boot with a single stick it'll let you get into bios. then if you set the memory to 800MHz it'll boot with 2 sticks and be flawless.

However it won't boot with the memory at 1066 at all.

I reported this to shuttle when it first came out and they've never bothered to fix it. :(

If you find a set that works at 1066MHz let me know!

Shuttles are always picky with their memory, the supported lists are always short with never anything on there you want to actually use :(

I had no end of trouble trying to overclock an old SN25P with some OCZ platinum ddr400 when I first went to uni.

It was a very disappointing first system build, and I ended up doing what I should have done first time 'round - ordered a proper motherboard and a full size case and PSU!

The Shuttle was a lovely piece of design, but it's not for the faint-hearted when it comes to solving hardware problems at critical moments.

It was eventually killed by a power surge/cut just as it was getting into the 8th hour of Prime at 2.6GHz on a 3200+ Venice. Still haven't found out whether it was the PSU or mobo, presumably the former. I was actually on my way downstairs to shut it down, having heard the thunder and seen the lightning outside, expecting an imminent power cut...

I really should sell it actually lol!

Having had quite a lot of experience with dead Shuttles here, it was probably the board. It seems like the older Shuttles (like 5+ years old) just kept going and going (my SN41 only died about 6 months ago after being on nearly 24/7 since I bought it new and I've seen several others of he series still going today!), but the newer ones seem to last two years and then the boards fail. Seeing as a replacement Shuttle board is nearly the cost of a new Shuttle, I've given up on them and gone mITX.

Yeah that's the catch isn't it - both 'boards and PSUs are eye-wateringly expensive. That's why mine has sat in it's box for some years now, it was too much effort to try and source an affordable board or PSU to test.

HeX,

Just installed 4 GB of OCZ Spec Ops and it's booting fine at 1066Mhz. Not bad for £25!

Cheers.

Doh! Lost this thread, would have snagged some of that had I know :D

Ah well, was just going to post and say I've snagged some Crucial mem, and it works a treat.

Just seems it doesn't like the Corsair stuff.
