Anyone else feel the same?

I just tried the BF4 beta, it runs like a dog on my pc which can play BF3 at very high settings.

Rome 2 is a mess, Arma 3 is unplayable online...the list goes on.

I feel like just packing in playing on pc and get a next gen console, I have a ps3 but the graphics are terrible compared to pc but I think a next gen console will be just as good as pc graphics or at least medium settings.

I suppose I will get a PS4 as I have a ps plus account, thats the only reason I have at the moment though and I will have to weigh up which one is right for me.

Tldr; new pc games are a broken mess, do people see next gen consoles as adequate replacement for gaming pc's.

Your an experienced PC gamer.

I would take this as a rant and you should know better.

Games are no different, just MANY more variables nowadays.

Complaining about a Beta not running 100%? Erm...

TBF you're picking on a beta, a Bohemia game and a known beast of an RTS. The first has an excuse, the other two are just piddle poor programming (IMO)

Lighten up, consolers get to pay £50 for their perfectly working games on release, and don't get some of the more innovative and charming games which grace the PC. Also, do you really think you'll enjoy BF4 as much with a control pad? There's a place for both platforms in your life :)

The things people will resort to blaming just to avoid accepting that it's a case of PEBCAK.
Believe its a case of my pc being a bit underspecced, I have a q6600, 6870 and 4gb ddr 2 ram.

However I can play BF3 on very high with great performance, and I play war thunder maxed.

Its like developers dont bother optimising their games anymore and you just have to have the latest and greatest specs to get a decent experience.

See, user error. Rome 2 is hard on computers, it needs a strong CPU.

It's not about lack of optimisation, things move forward, newer games will require better hardware, it's the way it works.

BF4 is a beta, it also has higher requirements than BF4.

What was the issue again?

I love pc gaming but I also love console gaming. I currently have all 3 current consoles and will be getting a ps4 and xbox one. They all have their place one of the best gaming experiences i ever had was red dead redemption and gta v. Get a ps4 and you will enjoy it more then your current rig im sure

My son has a q6600, 5870 and 4gb ram and he plays all today's games. Fair enough res is only 1680x1050 but hey. Q6600 is still a very good CPU

Ahh, the joys of PC Gaming. The master race need to be masterful at something, you cant expect to just slap in a disc and it plays. Thats for the peasants (console gamers) :p

Im kidding, Im kidding ;)

No really, Im kidding.

Apart form BF4 which is still in beta I agree games should not be aloud to be released if there broken e.g Rome 2, Takedown Red sabre, Arma but even consoles have there issues i had to download GTA V three times before it worked! It does not run as well as blu ray copy.
My advice it to wait for games to be released and check the feedback or get PS4 ;)

The Quad Core 2's are still very good CPU's. They still go for quite high prices on the bay 2nd hand. Its more about the GPU these days with games, mid to high end last generation CPU's are more than enough for new release games today.

poor game's are a thing on both platforms dlc allowed that to happen there are plenty of buggy unfinished games on console's.

£50 a game for console no thanks, just for that i would stay with pc.

Used to annoy me back in the day when games like Unreal wouldn't run at all without getting a patch on certain hardware, but nowadays there are hardly any issues getting (modern) games to run and if there is there is normally a patch available online sharpish. Thankfully things have moved on a lot from the bad old days, PC gaming is pretty much a breeze now.

Consoles on the other hand aren't quite so simple, used to be a case of slapping a cart in the MD/SNES and just play, nowadays it feels like every time I switch on the PS3/XB360 there is some update or other to download usually some crap completely unrelated to what I'm trying to play.

Sounds like you are picking 1 beta, and 2 of the most demanding games ever to be released, tweak your settings and
you'll be fine

Erm, what does that mean?

It is hardly a demanding game. The lead platform was a 360 no?

Arma 3 is a great game which does a hell lot more than BF3 does.

Your rig is underspecced to honest, as is mine but I know where the blame lies for poor performance :p

I adjust my settings accordingly.

Not to sound like an ***.

Save some pennies, upgrade to what you can afford, you will feel the love again. A PS4/XBone would be money up the wall in the long term. The money could get you a modest upgrade.
