Sounds like the poor chap has passed away in his sleep. R.I.P. Sidney.

Hopefully he's gone to a better place, where no doubt he can do some commentary on a Jocky Wilson match.

Very sad news. Thought this had been coming for a while. As a darts lover I am as aware as anyone that the sport would not have reached the stratospheric levels it has today without Sid's help.

People would tune in just to listen to his crazy ramblings and leave as true darts fans. A very learned fellow as well. Studied English at Cambridge.

Darts will never be the same, but with Sid's help, it has reached a level of popularity that I'm sure will now be sustained forever more. A fitting legacy.

never liked his style tbh but as darts is a game not a sport imo. but even so sad when any popular icon passes etc so yer rip thats not meant as an offence to darts fans btw ...

Shows how much of a darts legend he is, The PDC have commissioned a new trophy for the World Championship called the Sid Waddell Trophy.

His commentary was legendary

Watching darts sometimes was so good just because of him, I remember when Phil Taylor got two 9 darters in one match against Wade, and he went absolutely crazy on the commentary, made an already great sporting moment into an epic one

RIP

And very nearly a third, he hit 7 perfect darts and in a first to 10 game that's amazing stuff. A real credit to the sport, such incredible enthusiasm can only be matched by Murray Walker in F1 imo. RIP Sid, a massive loss to darts. :(

- incredible darts and hilarious commentary :D
