side panel fans

Hi all

I would like you opinion as to how i should set up my fans to get the best possible airflow.

I've got a midi case (A-pod) it has one fan at the rear and 2 on the side. The rear fan currently works as an exaust, The top side fan works also as an exaust and the lower side fan as an intake... Is that the right configuration or would i have to change something?

Under load motherboard (Asus M2N E) reaches 42C which i think is a bit high.

My rig is: athlon 64 3800, asus M2N E, 2x512 6400 corsair pro, ati x1600pro, thermlatake 430 W

42C is fine for the motherboard chipset.

Aren't there mounts for fans at the front of the case?

No unfortunately not.

It can get a 120mm on the back, an 120mm on the lower part of the side pannel, and a 80mm on the upper part of the side pannel.

Airflow wise ...how should i set them up to get the best results...exaust or intake?

So the fans are roughly located around the CPU and the GPU. It depends on what the fans on these are doing.

I think both the cpu and the graphics card fans are meant to suck air...but i may be mistaken

So what do you propose...Curently i have one of the side fans as an intake and the other as an exaust.. Should they both be working at the same directions..an if yes which one: intake or exaust?

I would have the two on the side panel intaking, and the one on the back exhausting if it was my decision. That would allow air to be blown across the mainboard, VGA card, and CPU.

I don't know if my suggested means would be the correct answer, but my gut instinct suggests it would be inefficient to have one fan exhausting and one fan intaking adjacent to one another.

Ideally though you want a couple of fans intaking from the front of your case, and a couple at the back exhausting to keep a more continuous airflow.
