My friend is badgering me to join him playing Planetside 2.

There is a positive to this.. he will donate his HD7770 to persuade me. Now this leads me to the penultimate question:

I am currently on a 6850 and it's Barts pro crunching is going strong. I could invest in a second hand 7770 and crossfire them (selling my 6850). Would this be able to crunch on the F@H projects, and has anyone had much success doing this?

What about 2 x 7770 vs a 7850 though because he will get 2 7770's.

;)

I could do a variety of options here however the two that stick so far are waiting for a reasonably priced second hand card to crop up (6850 or 7770) but in particular after some research - the 7770's consume less power and improve with the drivers as they are newer.

When I am not using the machine which is quite often due to work and having a 1yr old girl, I don't mind it crunching away - however I have no idea if crossfired cards can do this?

I don't run X-fire so not sure, got another 7950 to go in my machine but haven't had the time to install it. I remember people saying they had to break the X-Fire for the client to crunch successfully although this may have changed.

Biffa or someone should be able to answer shortly :)

No it doesn't, I don't think you have to disable it anymore, but basically the Folding@Home app runs one GPU client for each slot you setup. And each slot aligns to each GPU you have installed.

Its the same if you had a 7990 even though CF is built into the card it still runs as two cards in Folding.

So it will fold on both cards, you just have to plug into the port on the spare card to activate it as a slot?
