Hi guys,

My old mouse was playing up (so much that I couldn't use Vegas -_-) so I decided to invest in a new keyboard also(had my eye on a backlit keyboard for sometime).

Anyhow, got the MS Sidewinder X4 keyboard, it arrived today and have been having problems since plugging it in with the media keys.

The play/pause causes google chrome to vanish, and sometimes kills windows explorer also. The Forward and back/rewind keys do nothing.

Volume +/- and mute work fine, except when something is full screen, when they don't function at all. They seem to make windows explorer also close every now and then when in full screen.

I've tried it all with the drivers that came with it, and also the newest drivers straight from MS. Am about to rollback the drivers to see if that helps. Removed all drivers from previous keyboard also.

This keyboard is replacing a Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard set up, and the keyboards media keys worked perfectly on the old keyboard. If I can't get the keys working I'll just have to go back to my logitech keyboard. (Please help! D: )

Causes Chrome to vanish, what? :D Nothing like that here on Windows 7 (64). I am also using a Logitech G400 in conjunction with this keyboard with no media key problems.

It sounds like dodgy software issue. Un-install all your Logitech guff and then test the keyboard perhaps.

You want the Intellitype 8.0 software. The latest one has bugs with the profile switching side of things. And never use drivers from Windows Update.

I googled the drivers, used both 8.0 and 8.2, neither worked, Logitech is completely gone, used revo uninstaller.

So far, don't care about the profile switching, I just want media keys to work lol, always on shuffle so like to be able to skip music during a game!

And yeah, chrome just vanishes, faster than me crossing it off!

I'm on old XP! D:

You either have some software causing this OR the software/driver for XP is plain terrible.

Create a new user and try it on that account perhaps. Or stop using an out of date OS. :)
