I have always wanted a Red Staffy, ones I know have all been brindled or white/brindle; are they any good with little kids, heard mixed reviews! (Have a little niece - 18 months old)
If they are brought up right they can be great with kids, its like any dog its how they are tought and brought up by there owners, "dont blame the breed blame the owner"
A breed of dog , originally bred for bull-baiting and dog fighting in Birmingham , England by James Hinks in the mid-1800s. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier was originally known as the Bull Terrier and was later (incorrectly) changed to the Staffordshire Bull Terrier to distinguish between more readily available and not necessarily as pure breeds of the Bull Terrier.
The Stafford (Staffie or Staffy) is renowned for loyalty to their owners and stability of temperament, qualities which can make them a good family pet. When properly bred and socialised, they are fond of people, playful, energetic, and not naturally aggressive. They are normally excellent with children and their small size adds to their appeal as a family pet.
The dog's origins as a fighting breed can make the Stafford prone to taking on other dogs that seek to fight. For this reason, Staffords (especially unneutered males) should not be brought into close contact with dogs that are aggressive or snappy towards other dogs. It is wise to avoid such confrontations, bearing in mind the strength and fearlessness of the Stafford. However, Staffords will play or co-habit happily with other dogs that are not aggressive.
I know this first hand what these dogs can be capable of if not trained and brought up right, as I have been bitten by a staffy in the past it was one we brought of someone he was about 12 months old and we knew straight away that he had been mistreated as a pup but we wanted to give it a second chance in life but unfortunitly one day it turned on us maybe in the back of our minds we always thought that there was a chance, but then I had a staffy from six weeks old and she is now three and she is brilliant, DONT EVER have a dog older than a puppy unless you know for certain the dogs background.
There are pleanty of resources on the net about staffies just seek and you shall find.
