*sigh* Ballistix again

how can a company get away with somthing like that?

Well to be honest, we're not sure of the actual failure rate figures, but they're certainly not insignificant.

Crucial aren't really getting away with anything, they're having to replace all the dead modules, so it can't be doing them any good either.

i had a 512 stick of ballistix and it gave up on me in 5 months. didnt bother RMA'ing them because i know i would just get more hassle. The gutting thing was when i removed them i pushed down on my mobo abit to hard and it connected with the case. Powered up and POOF! CPU and my mobo went up in smoke and i now have a big black scorch mark on my case lol :(

I just had to RMA my 2nd set of ballistix(had active cooling also) and I even had a revision they said only had a 1% return rate(doubtful they were telling the truth) Anyways they sent me a shipping package so I wouldn't have to pay anything and was told I would be getting a new batch they recieved on the 29th in a couple days.

I don't think they would keep making new batches if some/most of the issues weren't fixed, because from a business standpoint it would be suicide.

aren't there some laws preventing manufacters from selling this unreliable stuff?

Yes there are laws which require goods to be fit for their purpose, but Crucial are offering replacements as a remedy.

I bought 2 x 512MB PC4000 Ballistix back in October 2004 and run them on an Asus P4P800 E Deluxe. Almost all the settings I tried, I always go errors in memtest86+ and regular BSODs, so after three months I got fed up of BSODs and simply sold them and bought some OCZ PC3200 Plat rev2, what a difference, never had any problems with them.

So, my opinion of Crucial Ballistix in low to say the least. :)
