Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 OS Art . anyone thinking of getting it?

Rumour is Canon making a IS version to update their 24-70 next. I am not a fan of the mk2, I prefer the mk1 where the barrel zooms inside the hood.

a few people have mentioned they dont like the way the mk2 zooms

but every review i have read says the mk2 is an improvment over the mk1 image quality (barrel zoom aside)

i was going to get the mk2 and then saw news of the sigma, so might wait to see what its like

I like the Sigma Art Primes and I think the 50-100 Art is a nice lens, as is their 24-35 F/2.0 is an impressive piece of engineering, 2 useful focal length with a wide aperture so I have no doubt actually the 24-70 will be very good.

As for the Canon, I know optically that lens is better than the mk1, for me, the 24-70 is now my spare lens and the mk1 servves that purpose just fine.

I would wait for reviews. Previous Sigma 24-70mm lenses were not that great, especially poor Bokeh.

Ancient history considering their Art lenses are all superior to Nikon and Canon.

Despite nay sayers saying it's not an impressive zoom range, the 24-35mm has become my go-to lens for general indoor photography at conventions etc, that focal length range and wide aperture is exactly what anyone shooting indoor photography needs. People don't appreciate how big the difference in fov is between 24 and 35mm!
