Sigma Quality issues?

Anyone had any experience with the Sigma 24-70 f2.8?

Yes, I had a brief encounter with it, at 2.8 is was quite soft and flary, I compared the 70mm end with the 70-200 f4 and there was a world of difference.

Saying that though Sigma do have quality control issues which are well known so it's likely the example I had a go with was a bad example. You may get a good example if you buy one but then again you may get a soft one.

I had a five minute play with one once. All I noticed was noisy AF! it doesnt have HSM you see.

Is that from ebay/HK or from UK? I couldn't find the UK one if it was.

I could find a HK for around 200-210 incl but no UV filter.
