Signal, manœuvre, mirror!

It doesn't annoy me as much as people who merge on to motorways too slowly and end up braking at the end when they cant get in to any gaps due to their slow speed.
 
The slip road where I join the a1 is so short you often have to stop on it. That's always full of lol as it's quite tricky to fully know what Lane the traffic is in
Sometimes a vehicle will flash you out but Tbh at an 80mph closing speed I'm not taking that chance

I don't think you should have to let people in to your Lane (you technically dont) and I don'tlike it when someone looks like they are letting you in by just hanging back I'd rather wait for my Merging gap.

My favourite bit of my journey home is the a1m /a14 junction. Most people just don't seem to twig the most efficient way of making good time. If you know the junction you probably know what I mean :-P

There is another bit where the Peterborough parkway no so she joins the a1m where you get one of those filters but often not going on the filter is quicker as doing the roundabout normally puts you in the fast lane of the joining slip
is judgement call on which is better in regards to busyness of the filter vs busyness of the roundabout

Pet hates are not planning ahead at roundabouts.. My gf does this.. Drives up too fast and therefore usually ends up stopping
Not indicating off roundabouts, or worse, indicating off and not
Braking at every bend

Bad way of driving IMHO, you should indicate your intentions to move lane only when that lane is clear and your about to move over into that lane.

If he's indicating and not moving out though then surely it's clear he's waiting for a gap? Someone is then free to give way to him instead of just thinking he's happy to cruise behind the lorry. We do it in every other scenario when driving - junctions, roundabouts, etc., so why not motorways?

OK maybe the person should have looked a bit further ahead to not allow himself to get boxed in behind a lorry, but still. It can be done with plenty of time if there's just lots of traffic. I just think it's a bit silly to let yourself get boxed in in heavy traffic and then not 'want out'. I dunno.

I agree with you. Sometimes you get boxed in without much choice.

If I'm in the middle lane trying to overtake, I'll indicate (indicating shows your intent to change lanes when clear) and only pull out if a) someone lets me into the outside lane, or b) when there is space I'll move out.
 
If your waiting for the lane to be clear before indicating, who are you indicating too?

Totally with Howard on this one. The single action of indicating at the point you manoeuvre does my head in.

This grinds my gears when I'm in my truck.

If I can't move over and they try to join at 50. I slow down then they slow down even more ! Eventually they have to slam on at the end of the slip road.

Just join the motorway at 60!
 
Disagree with Howard here, if someone sits there like a muppet indicating away without doing anything I would consider them unpredictable. Might have to alter my speed/course for no good reason, in case they decide to cut in front. You need to be assertive, pick your gap, indicate your intention to move into it straight away, then do quickly. Nobody likes a dawdler. If you are aware of what's going on around you then you won't get boxed in.
 
its fair enough to indicate if there is no gap and you are waiting for one imo, its an idication of your intentions
sitting there with a gap when indicating isnt right, thats where you dont know what they are going to do

another pet peeve i had today was going round a roundabout and people just being too lazy to keep in the lane because of the sharpness of turn, i had to sit there until this 4x4 driver saw me today and moved back in!
 
I hate people moving from lane 1 to lane 3 with one single indication.

My pet hate is when you move back over to lane 1 and the guy behind speeds up ever so slightly so he is now sitting by your side for eternity leaving you trapped unless you change speed.

In that case I would indicate to show I want space to move over before I have to slow down for a lorry.

Don't sit in someone's blindspot!
 
I have no idea how I did that joined up letters thing either, if it makes me look clever and erudite it was of course done on purpose, if not it was a blip in my compooota
