Right so Im still stuck on a case well until I get paid then I'll get one and stop going crazy over all the choices,

So I've got the Black Friday bundle sitting here all I've got left to buy is heatsink and case what is the most silent case I can get in the 100 pound for each mark can go slightly over ofcourse

There are lots of silenced cases,

1 x BeQuiet Silent Base 800 - Silver £99.95

1 x Corsair Carbide 330R Silent Mid Tower Case - Black (CC-9011024-WW) £69.95

1 x Antec P100 Mid Tower Silenced Computing Case £62.99
Total : £758.11 (includes shipping : £43.60).

A good quality heatsink with nice quality fan will be quieter than a water cooler.

Is any windowed option out of the question? Was looking at the phanteks luxe with h105 but seems wouldn't be quite or as quite let's say all I'm really comparing to is my old Antec 1200 of it's half as quiet as that if be ok

Silenced cases have sound deadening material on the panels so a side window panel defeats the purpose.

But I know bequiet have a side windowed panel coming and antec do a P280 with side window.

I just bought a NZXT KRAKEN X61 AIO Water Cooling Unit and am very happy with it. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-014-NX&groupid=701&catid=2330&subcat=2347
- build quality seems very good (except plastic backplate)
- it is surprisingly quiet - I have it running on silent mode and can't hear either fans or the pump (only heard the pump the first time I installed it)
- temps are 26C at idle and haven't been above 40 at load (cooling a 4790k @ stock) - maybe summer will see higher temps TBC, but then I can change from silent mode if need arises
- software is easy to use/install
- these kits are a bit expensive (although OCUK didn't have it in stock I got it for £100 elsewhere) they are worth it since they are not massive like air coolers which are dust magnets and make it hard to work in case ie access RAM sticks etc... as well as lot less strain on motherboards

as for the case it's personal choice - choose one that fits your budget, styling, size and functionality criteria. my main tip for silent case is to make sure you get steel over aluminium. there is less resonance. furthermore you can add sound dampening kits for the case that you like best http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=2362&catid=1170

if you want absolute silence then you need a fanless setup, although not sure how well those do for gaming etc... but are conceivable for an HTPC

my 2 cents

PS here is a good source if silence is important for you http://www.silentpcreview.com/

I'll be honest I wanted a 'silent' build myself - but got a Cooler Master Storm Trooper case. Quite a beast, but tbh it's extremely quiet (in my opinion) so am glad I haven't got a silenced case - sacrificing airflow/temperature as well as aesthetics. (The case comes with a window).

Runs so cold my room actually cools down haha! (Heating isn't even on lol)

Also, that is with the case running with the fan controller on max setting - if I turn it down it's practically inaudible (as one would expect)
