So have pieced together a small HTPC with trades and bits and bobs and ended up with a llano a4 3400 with a A75M-ITX (ASROCK) board got a ssd to boot from and a 2tb wd green for storage. This is inside a slightly modded shuttle case.

Im aware I could get a quiet psu and case but at the moment i have the stock cooler on the chip and its noisy I have a good amount of room so im curious what suggestions people would make for a cheap silent/near silent cpu cooler for this.

Im running win7 and using xbmc for my films/tv shows/music.

I run a Scythe Shuriken B on my system, which uses the same mobo as yours, but cooling an A8 3870k instead.

I suppose you could get one of those enormous low profile 140mm heat sink/fan combo's, but you just have to figure out if the components on the mobo will leave you space for the heat pipes. I had this problem with the Asus FM1 mITX board and several low profile heat sinks. Admittedly the Asrock board is better laid out, but it's still tight in there.

On a side note, I ran the stock fan on an A6 3500, which seemed quiet enough, but it did run rather hot.
