Hello

I currently have an arctic 7 cooler on my Intel E6420 socket 775 chip and its very noisey.

Whats a decent, fairly cheap silent cooler?

Thanks

Doesn't sound right, they're renowned for being very efficient and very quiet.

I use a Zalman CNPS9500-AT on a Core2 Duo E6600 running stock 2.4Ghz. With the fan turned to minimum using the included Fanmate it's very quiet and more than adequate whatever I throw at the CPU. If it wasn't for the graphics card it'd be barely audible at 1m.

Personally i'm replacing my system with a Media Center so i'm looking for absolute silence rather than very quiet, and to this end I'm also switching my HD4850 to a passive version.

I just fixed it :D

I didn't have Q-Fan enabled in the BIOS. Switched that on, set it to silent mode and its absolutely great. Can't hear anything. I hardly game at all on here so I don't see temps being a problem.

The only thing I can hear now is disk! My 4850 Vapor-X is like a mouse, and the Corsair PSU is great too. Wahey

Which Corsair PSU are you using? I bought a Corsair HX-520 for my future HTPC project after reading good reports on it's noise level in the hope that it would be 'even' quieter than my Coolermaster RS-380, and at least as quiet as my Hiper HPU-4S525. I just fitted it to my brother's pc after he moved back from America and forgot to change it from 115v :D and it's hard to tell without stopping all the other fans for a sec (not enough hands for that), but I think it might be slightly louder than the Coolermaster. Don't get me wrong, it's quiet, but I had a £10 PSU ages back to fix someones system and my mate and I laughed our asses off at just how quiet it was, you couldn't hear a thing (and that was tested outside the case), and that's what I'm after... SILENCE!

Its the Corsair 520 as well.

Really silent here, can't hear anything now except a very slight hum from the CPU fan (and obviously disks)
