Hi all,

I am going to be picking up a electric guitar tomorrow - and I need to also get an AMP as at the moment I only have an accoustic amp, at the moment I am finding it hard to practice due to the time I get home - so looking for an option to play via headphones

Should I get a Pocket Pod (the reviews I see are fairly old but looks good) or go with an AMP with built in headphone jack and anything else ill need to make it sound good?

I have a pmt near me so will be going there for the parts.

I'd would advise going in and trying everything out. The reason I say this is because I have younger kids I can't really practice with any volume in the evening and I found all the solutions not that great sound wise for the amount I would be spending and where they would restrict me to in the house - I am not lumping my amp around everyday if I can help it. Now I am fortunate in that I mainly play classical and jazz and therefore it's not such an issue but sometimes you just want to shred! My solution in the end was to get Rocksmith for the PC and just play leaded up to my PC. If you go down this route then look towards http://customsforge.com/ for custom DLC.

Play without it plugged in :p On the more serious side, if I want to practise through the amp with headphones I use a Bluestone Pro - amp plugs into the box and then there is a headphone out from the box. Works pretty well and is reasonably priced. (also works fine in terms of load with my Orange Tiny Terror - are you using a tube amp?)

I plumped for a ID Core 20 and a Epiphone, only issue is my headphones are fairly quiet - they are more Creative Live Aurvana headphones, only thing do is to turn up the gain but that distorts things too much - any advice?
