Anyone own one of these? Does it reduce click and whirring noise by fair amount?

I have a feeling the other silencer (in foam and plastic case) silences better but the hard drive bakes in it's own heat.

I can't recommend these enough - they are awesome! If you want some extra cooling you can always mod a waterblock onto the top an keep it nice and frosty!

One of these for example - looked at doing this with my scsi's but have given up on watercooling!

Drive stays cool. It's quieter, but definitely not silent... how loud depends on the rest of your system, it's all relative.

I did own a Silentmaxx for a bit, but sent it back as it was the wrong colour. In the end I got a load of Smartdrive 2002c enclosures which work far better IMO. Damn expensive and hard to get hold of though. But they contain a big copper block that actually helped reduced the temp of the drives.

Yeah, I know they are a silly price. Shame as they are really good at doing they're job. I only reallised how silly expensive they are after a got my first one, then realised I was going to need another 5, taking me up to 6 in total! :D
