Two of the calls I have dealt with the last couple of days...

(Entry: 1) Original Call
Anna called because she is not receiving emails at the moment.

(Entry: 2) Close
Anna didn't know her own email address so she was giving out the wrong one.

Having emailed her actual email address this is now working and Anna is happy to close this call.

Closing.

(Entry: 1) Original Call
Michelle called because her intranet is not working at the moment. It is not accepting her credentials.

(Entry: 2) Close
Michelle was spelling her own name wrong.

It is Michelle not Mchelle.

Spelling it correctly has allowed her to log in without issue and Michelle is happy to close this call.

Closing.

wow.

Works the other way as well.

I had IT remotely take control of my laptop yesterday because the password reset they sent me wasn't working.

It was pASSWORD1 instead of Password1.

IT caps lock fail.

We recently had a client state that we couldn't have default passwords set to user's surnames because, and I quote, 'they might forget them'.

My argument was that nobody is ever going to forget their own name, sadly you've proven me wrong here.

Client: How much would you charge for a project with functionality x, y and z?

Me: ££££

Client: That's too much, how much for just x and y?

Me: £££

Client: ok, do that!

Me: it's ready :D

Client: but it doesnt do z? YOU TOLD ME IT WOULD DO Z!?

:(

Silly user, it has to be something you're doing wrong. We don't make mistakes in IT.

Contracts detailing the spec. are a wonderful thing.

He actually said the words "OMG fail" when he realised!

I imagine he had rolled his eyes a few times until he worked out what had happened :D

Yep, dont worry, we are covered by the revised lower priced, lower functionality contract.

Doesnt stop the client moaning though. They want to pick and choose functionality from one contract with the price from the other contract

Bloke bought a laptop today with a copy of Office 2013 Home and student. Then complained to me that he didn't have outlook.

I had nothing to do with him going out and buying the laptop...

When I was working in the council's IT dept., I was called out to another building because a few of the people couldn't get their computers to turn on. Now this was the day after that particular office had been set-up as a trial for wireless, back when wireless was pretty new.

Turned out the manager had removed the power leads because they'd been told they'd gone completely wireless. I kid you not.

You absolutely have to be joking.
