Silly Hard drive question

Well guys, i am not to familiar with these new Hard drives i have only ever uses IDE, but i just wanted to know, what is the difference between SATA and SATA II? which one is better and why? do they use different connectors from each other? and do SATA and SATA II work on the same boards or are there a sperate set of boards that work with SATA and another set of boards that work with SATA II?,

SATAII is just a faster interface really. There are some features but all in all it's the same as an IDE disk with a smaller cable and higher inerface capacity.
The only real difference to be aware of is that not all SATA controllers are supported by windows. So you have to hit F6 during setup to install the driver else it won't see the disk.
There are various ways of making that process easier but i won't go into them right now.
