Silly mistake...

Hello,

Orderd https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-129-AB stupidly forgetting to check the number of IDE slots.

I only have IDE HDD's lieing around and no SATA's. I was wondering how much it would slow the performance of the HDD running it off the 1 IDE slot along with a DVD-rom.

An extra £50 I have to spend.

Set the hard drive as primary and the DVD drive as secondary and it will be fine. It's not as though the DVD is working all the time like a hard drivve so will be fine.

Its still not advised to have an HDD on same EIDE Controler as a Optical drive though.

SATA has been around ages now would be a good time to get one esp with current Mobos lack of EIDE connections (Controler still has 2 channels).

Yeah will have to order one after I've totalled up the christmas money and all the crap I need to sell on ebay.

The computer I'm running atm is still in the stone age. Rocking the Athlon XP 2600+, 1gb of god knows what ram (mix of differnt budget 512mb) and lovely Radeon 9200 128mb.
