I just had a laugh to myself when i saw a Corsair H80 on the bay with an asking price of £999.75.

Who in their right mind would even consider paying that amount.

Honestly, did you think they would legitimately sell it for that price?, its just placeholding lol.
 
ive seen this a lot. from what i can see its a clever way of getting some attention to your sales. put up a bunch of PC fans at £1bn and you'll get someone on a computer forum going trolololol look at this guy. suddenly he has lots of people looking through all the items he has up for stupid amounts of money and you never know, some of them might bid on his sensibly priced auctions

It's probably like that. But personally I think this shouldn't be allowed.
 
No stock - stupid price until you have stock. You don't lose your auction (which maybe people have bookmarked for future purchases "watched"), don't have to end your auction (lose fees) and maybe, just maybe, you sell an item for a massive markup
