Might seem a bit silly this but can anyone explain the difference between :

Intel i7-5930K
And the
Intel i7-5960K

What I've noticed is the Intel i7-5930K seems to come as a standard 3.5GHz up to I think a safe 4.4 when max over clocked

Whereas the Intel i7-5960K comes as a standard 3 GHZ and is on most bundles for example £350ish pound more...

I'm usually pretty good with pcs, probs because I'm sleepy but anyone mind helping? :)

That about sums it up. Main thing is the 5930K is a 6 core chip with 15MB cache and the 5960X is an 8 core chip with 20MB cache.

Obviously I don't know what sort of things you do with your PC, but if it's gaming you won't need the 8 core 5960x.

Even the 6 core 5930k is only really justifiable if you are using 2+ GPU's.

Unless you know that you need a 5960X, you likely don't need a 5960X.

Even when presented with the opportunity to get a 5960X at a silly price, I chose the 5930K instead. There's a huge difference between value on paper and value to the individual.

Unless this thing is going to be used for media work, transcoding, large compilations, running a silly number of virtual machines or running several under intensive workloads, stick with the 5930K.
