What you described is actually very easy to do, assuming the robot is designed to do only that, the difference being the robot could also do complex mathematics whilst doing it.

I've seen big clumsy robots that can barely walk up stairs. Doing what I described whilst doing congantive thought? Not there yet.

yea as i was going to mention you probably can make a robot that can balance and walk stairs but congantive thought is a LONG way off.

its conciousness that is the key to intelligence. where does it come from (excluding religion here)
