Silly question

I want to get a laptop for just general use at work and home.

No games and no major programs will be run on it.

I was thinking of getting a web book?

Are these a bad idea or are they good.

Id want it for surfing the web, watching movies (not dvd's ripped films)

word,excel and thats it

Should i get a proper laptop or would a web book do??

could i play avi files on it, like i do on my pc?

Yeah, it runs Windows so you can do whatever you would normally do on it.

It depends on what you would prefer portability of a netbook to the bigger screen and bigger hard drive for instance for a bigger laptop
