Hi Guys,

I am taking delivery of a new OCZ Agility 3 SSD tomorrow and have a bit of
a silly question, Now I know I have to activate ACHI mode in the bios before
I do a fresh install of Windows7 onto the new SSD.

My question is, will this effect my other drive that I have which is used to store
all my music and movies and stuff. My other drive is a normal mechanical drive
with is SATA II.

I know that I have to have my Backup drive un-plugged and stuff while I do
an install of Windows onto the SSD. Just wondered if I am gonna expect and
issues from the other drive.

Cheers guys.

P.S. Sorry for rambling on, im at work and im tired, 1st night shift tonight lol.

I'll answer or you mate!!

Just installed my first SSD tonight!!

Made a windows 7 disk onto a 4gig USB thumb drive.

Unplugged all my drives before I plugged my SSD in, which I plugged into my first port.

Booted up from USB and installed Win 7 from first power on to first full proper boot was 13mins!

Installed MB drivers and graphic drivers, shutdown.

Connected all my drives back up and every drive was there to see when I rebooted into windows.

My boot time is now around 30 secs from power on to desktop, a major improvement from 95 secs which I timed last night!

You might want to check out how to move your APPDATA and USER folders over to your back up drive during install, I didn't do that initially. So going to do another install tomorrow and move the folders over to a spare drive!

Thanks for your reply MarkeR.

My new OCZ Agility3 SSD is installed and working perfect.

Boot times are faster and windows seems a lot more responsive now.
Turned off defrag on windows so that wont bother me, reduced my paging file slightly
as it was set at 9 gig so i set it to 4.

Windows rating for my system has gone upto 7.5 now.

All is good.
