What are these optical drive bays you speak ok? Do you mean the 5 1/4" bays used for large fan controllers and res'?! :p

Regarding vertical drives... If you take a CD-ROM apart you'll find a 'spindle' that the disk is held against the motor when it spins by magnets (from both sides), meaning they can spin and read discs from any orientation.

I got the black one of these....silver looks odd in my humble opinion....especially if its a shiny silver, the matt black soft touch is awesome
 
The problem with the optical drive bays is not the only problem as where am i going to stick eight 3.5inch hard drives when there is only room for 2.
Hopefully they might listen to peoples needs one day but maybe not.

and other gear that goes in the drive bays ? fan controllers / water cooling resbay/ ?

thing is its not hard to fix or rejig. i could show you in 2 minutes how to rotate to the " right way " it wouldnt change the case look much and then not put any buyers off.



heres a idea on what you could do.

widen front right hand panel to left center. make a solid clean panel as pictured. this would be a door ;) it could open from left edge to right. dvd drives whatever right way or as they are now just hidden.

the extra width should be enough to fit a dvd drive the right orientation. if you go up to the left as i did. move badge a little to center and you are left with a cleaner looking case and dvd orientation fixed.

I like it, looks really nice and yeah a bit retro.

So as Corsair have kept the front vent black, does this mean we can see some accessories being made available, in different colours?
 
The optical drive side needs fixing though, make it a clean finish like the Photoshop above. How hard will it to be find a optical drive that is the same colour as the case as well.
