Silverstone Circuit - Camping

I'm off to silverstone to watch the races soon. Thinking of getting the tent out and camping over the sat night.

Can anyone recommend a good camping site next to or very near the circuit?

I did hear they open the fields around the circuit on 1st come 1st served basis?

One with beer tents and food would be a plus!

Whittlebury gets a lot of support on here, and its the site were using for the OcUK LeMans Series weekender.

Also try Cattle End. He is a private camp site but very very welcoming. Used to go there for years...

I find the only problem with staying 'too' close is it's very difficult to get to sleep even with ear plugs as people are up almost 24 hours with loud music - obviously we all enjoy the atmosphere but I need a bit of sleep to enjoy the event I've travelled to.

We stayed at Whittlebury for the Grand Prix and I would thoroughly recommend it.

Although the GP prices are a rip off, supply and demand though I suppose.

I stayed at Litchlake farm opposite the main entrance for the Grand Prix this year and they have toilets and showers available.
