Silverstone GP deadline on Monday

I prefer Woodcote B as you can get a much better view down the start finish straight and into Copse (particularly if you sit towards that end of the grandstand) whilst still being able to see the whole stadium section.

EDIT - after some digging it looks as though the changes at Woodcote involve creating more runoff for MotoGP which sounds like it could mean the grandstand has gone. The layout above was also driven entirely by MotoGP's desire to avoid Bridge corner due to lack of runoff and the inability to create any due to the location of the bridge itself. The only solution being to bypass that section of track completely.

I'd much prefer them to use the old circuit as it seems to flow a lot better. That layout looks like someone took a hammer to the Abbey/Bridge/Brooklands section to shift it.

Im not convinced by the new layout. But it isnt going to stop me buying grandstand tickets for Luffield when I get home! Had the money stashed away from months for this. Its going to be epic now with the all british McLaren and load of other new british teams too!

Hopefully the new layout would mean the turn before luffield at the end of the national straight could become a decent overtakeing spot.

Great news, with a 17 year deal they won't have any problems getting the money to update. Seems like the chicken and egg dilemma has been solved.

Renowned circuit specialist Hermann Tilke, who designed Malaysia's Sepang circuit, has designed the new layout, which sees the track turn right and bypass the Abbey chicane into a new infield section. However, the most dramatic changes will involve shifting the pits complex to a new position on the straight linking Club and Abbey corners, while oval-style banking will be added to Club corner itself to provide an added dimension to racing.

Gulp...

Possible new layout to be used next year for the 2010 GP

Isnt Hermann Tilke a company not a person?

I hope they dont move the pits. Club-Abbey is the best spot for general admission. Putting the pits there would surround almost the whole track in Grandstand only viewing areas.

And banking on Club, wtf?! just back off and leave it as it is!

Tilke isn't just a one-man band who goes around designing race circuits. He fronts a design team (Tilke Engineering) based in Germany.

Ah, so its one mans company. lol.

Either way, his tracks lack any soul. They shouldnt let him destroy Silverstones!

It will be nanny-fied with huge run off areas and things :(

I've mocked up a design of Silverstone for 10 years in the future, after a few tweaks from the Tilke-drone team:

In all seriousness, Duke has a valid point. I expect we will just see the track get further and further from the grandstands. :(

Don't think it looks that bad.... Will be a shame to get rid of bridge, but on the other hand it adds another decent sized straight with a nice overtaking point into the final complex.

Banking on club is an awful idea though.
