Silverstone test could be back

That same quote says "no consensus was reached". That tells me not everyone is happy, perhaps due to the issue of finding drivers, as they have already said?

And also that some teams are perfectly happy to change it and have drivers...so they will run at Silverstone and not Abu Dhabi. You are the one saying it would not happen.

Bring it back to silverstone for god sake, stop crying over it, I mean come on, who wouldn't say no to trying out a f1 car. Even if they are in mid season their future isn't necessarily in that 'league' their future is in f1 and if they can give good fee back to the teams then there is potential for them.

Indeed, I can imagine most young drivers can be there if asked by a team, why would they say oh sorry I am too busy?

Look at last season lots of them taking part now have some sort of F1 drive or deal.

The apparently 'previously reported' decision to run both tests and allow teams to choose which one to go to seems to have slipped under the radar.

When were the first restrictions of in season testing, you hear about the 90's having lots of testing, but were teams running test cars around tracks all the time?

Pretty much, especially Ferrari as they had both Fiorano, their own private test track out the back of their factory, and Mugello at their disposal.

The testing ban also meant the end of having specific 'test teams' whose sole job was to support the test mules, and who could be swapped in/out of the race team as needed. This is part of the reason you keep hearing team staff moaning about having so many races in a season.

There is a theory that Ferrari are still playing catchup after the testing ban. They used to run massive amounts of laps around Fiorano and other test tracks, while other teams without their own circuits available (like McLaren) invested more in wind tunnel and CFD work. The band wasn't just a restriction on what they were doing, it forced a complete change of direction in how the team approached car development.

Hi Spunky,
I did contact you through trust but don't think it got through properly. If you are able to help please get in contact, if not no problem.

Many thanks,
