Sim racing upgrade

Can I ask. Do I need to buy separate panel shifters if I buy a fanatic wheel or do they come with them?

also I noticed the new pedals are not load cell? Could I just buy the csl one available now?

Most wheels come with paddle shifters - I think some of the old classic wheels you would need to buy a separate shifters.

Looks like the new pedals will be load cell but this will come out later. You can just buy the existing ones yes. I am not sure what the difference will be - currently it looks mainly aesthetic to me but if your not sure wait for reviews.

I have the existing model pedals and they are great

Thanks bud, and one last question, Clubsport V3 or the CSL Elite?
(Or should I wait for these new CSL Pedals?)

If you can afford it, get V3's, if not maybe wait and see what the new CSL pedals are like. I have heard the load cell in the current CSL elites are poorly positioned in the pedal arm.

Sod it, ordered the V2 wheel and V3 clubsport elite pedals. Cant wait :)
Since I ordered these now, would I be eligible for wave 1 ordering of the CSL DD?

Also are there any compatible racing seats/frames for these?

@Cavallino resale value on Fanatec gear is very good as sim racing has sort of gone through a bit of a boom. I've a full rig, CSW 2.5 with Heusenkveld Sprints. As far as the wheel bases go, Clubsport defo over CSL Elite.. Although the new DD is interesting even at 8nm of force (my CSW 2.5 is 8nm and its more than ample)

Plenty of frames out there, Simlabs stuff the best and most racing seats out there will fit without any hassle with the seat mounting brackets. I use a Simetek K2 with a Sparco Rev 2 seat and also 80/20 frame for triple monitor setup, it's easy to build and rigid as anything.

Can check out my rig on YouTube channel if you're interested.

@TonyTurbo78 Cheers bud. Thanks for the tip.
For the wheel base Im going to go with the CSL DD since thats the latest one.

ive read reviews of the clubsport 3 pedals, they seem to have an edge over the CSL elites but not much. But I thought what the hey go with them cause they do look cooler :D

So its CSL DD with the 8nm PSU and wheel clamp, Clubsport V2 wheel, Clubsport V3 pedals.

Ill take a look at the simlab stuff, thanks for the headsup.

Will defo check out your YT channel.

E: Incidentally, how easy is it to set the wheel and configure the software

Sweet, thanks keyman, cannot wait :)

Would I be considered wave 1 or wave 2, seeing as I have ordered Fanatec stuff before the preorder date?

Yeah the new CSL Elite DD wheel is a no brainer. 100% if anyone is in the market to get in on DD bandwagon then at that price point it can not be overlooked. I think you have to get the uprated Power Supply if you're going the CSL DD which you've done, the extra force to take it to 8nm is a must....Fanatec being very clever there.

Wheel is set up so easily. Can pretty much ignore the Fanalab stuff and just set everything up on the wheel itself. I've the Formula V2 and the BMW GT2 Clubsport wheels, the settings save to the base and you can also have different profiles set so it makes it a doddle moving between wheels and choosing the profiles from the wheel seamlessly.

Ah thanks for that good to know :)

Im not looking for a racing seat setup as such, just something to use with my existing chair...

Something like this would do the trick?

https://sim-lab.eu/shop/product/ws-pro-wheel-stand-1118?category=26#attr=1075
I have a similar wheel stand and they work fine (I would check compatibility with the new DD though before purchase)- I would say you definitely need one to get the best out of the load cell. With a wheel stand they recommend running the load cell at the lowest resistance which is what I do. My chair also has wheels and I had to buy some coasters to stop it moving around. Setup rigidity gets more important the more you get into it.

As with all these things though you start eyeing up an upgrade after a while and I am looking to get the Simlab P1-X in the near future. They are just awesome pieces of kit

Cheers, which stand did you go for? And can you let me know how you fixed your chair with the coasters?

How are these https://www.gtomega.co.uk/products/classic-steering-wheel-stand ?

Also, I got an email from Fanatec to say that the taxes need to be paid by me, does this sound right (Brexit etc)?
How do I pay these usually? (Ive never been in this situation!)

I went with the Omega APEX and have been pretty happy with it. For the chair I got some on amazon "6 Pieces Furniture Caster Cups" the are black rubber type for about a tenner. I just slip them under the wheels when playing driving games.

You have to pay the taxes once the items enter the country - this is done through UPS they will send you the bill before delivery. UPS charge you for this pleasure of around £10

Ah cheers, my only bug bear about playing games with wheels and joysticks and throttles etc, is setting them up.... So you just slip the coasters under the wheels eeach time you play?

Ah smashing
But thanks for the headsup keyman and everyone, really appreciate all the useful info.

Yeah - this is why I want to get a SimLab rig ultimately as it is quite annoying. Plus I have flight sim stuff so it is worth the investment.
