Simple DVI question

Just noticed my TFT has a DVI socket, although no cable was supplied. My pro card has DVI slots. Can I just buy a DVI cable and away I go?

Does it matter whether i buy a branded or non- branded cable as there is variation in the price and i want the best value for money.

(I thought it would be wise to just ask in this thread rather than creating a whole new thread)

Edit: Just did an advanced search through the forum and found the following

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17532581&highlight=dvi+cable

The majority of people say there is no point in spending large amounts of money on one, and a non-branded cheap one would be just as good as an expensive branded one. Would just like someone to confirm

Any help would be much appreciated :)

What tft have you got, in a lot of cases you can't really notice the difference between vga and dvi
I noticed a big difference on a Viewsonic 2025 between the DVI and VGA connection and also on an Eizo I have. I guess it could depend on the monitor, but that's a mid-range and top end model I've tried it on, and I definitely see a difference, with DVI undoubtedly being better.

Yeh, I did notice a difference with my Dell but I used to work at a pc supplier who used Iyama monitors that came with a vga cable but had a dvi port as well, have to say the vga actually looked better on these screens

Hi, thanks for replies.

I have a belinea 102035w 20.1" widescreen
My graphics card is a evga 7900 gs ko

I definately need to use a dvi input since my vga socket is going to be used up by my xbox 360.

Question is: Does it matter if i buy a branded expensive one compared to a standard £3.50 one? (Prices vary widely starting from £3.50 up to £18.00)

I want the best picture quality possile.
