And Unreal was amazing, I don't recall the graphics card I had back then, a Voodoo 2 I think, ah those were the days.
Another game I have seen is Riotfall, I like the look of it so will try it out at some point.Ravenfield is my go to if I just want to run round shooting things. It's a single player battlefield clone with simplified graphics and a large modding community.
Thanks for this recommendation, I picked this up for £8 on Steam earlier and am enjoying the coop online vs bots. I struggle with the fast pace of some of the online shooters these days, this feels about right to me.Insurgency Sandstorm is a worthy mention if you like a bit of realism, but not too much. The shooting mechanics are probably the very best that i have personally experienced anywhere - guns sound, recoil, spark, kick up dust, have ragdoll impacts, penetrate surfaces (including bricks if shooting M4/AK/higher calibers). No story mode, but SP and Coop are still excellent fun and straight to the point gameplay. Lots of maps, weapons, mods.
I bought this a while ago. It's worth mentioning that his review is more glowing than many. I'd say it's reasonable but so far I've found it a bit underwhelming.May I also suggest TREPANG2
It looks awesome, and there's a demo on Steam:
Indeed it is, toppest quality.Prodeus on the other hand was top quality.
Great to hear! It was my goto FPS for a good while, together with Arma3 single player (with weapon, ragdoll and "AI cant see through grass" mods). I know that Arma3 has this reputation of being a hardcore sim with compasses, radio, massive maps and so on, but it can play pretty close to Insurgency in single player. Arma3 has slower pacing as you are not limited by out of bounds areas of I:S and has tons of cool story missions with voice overs. Plus you can command your AI teammates, have a 3rd person view with better animations than Ghost Recon Breakpoint, can drive tanks and helicopters with decent physics (arma cars and planes have cringe physics) and so on. Just another option to try if you ever feel like "I like I:S, but want more of it"Thanks for this recommendation, I picked this up for £8 on Steam earlier and am enjoying the coop online vs bots. Thanks, I’ll bear that in mind. I played the original Operation Flashpoint when it was released over 20 years ago and loved it in spite of its rough edges. I’ve tried ARMA and ARMA II but always found them to be great in their ambition but flawed in execution. I remember sinking hours into one of the first missions in ARMA and then finding that the mission wouldn’t end because one of the AI soldiers had wandered off miles in the wrong direction. ARMA III always looked like a game that was going to be too hardcore and demand more time than I could be bothered to give it.Great to hear! On my side, I've never played prior Armas. I didn't encounter any game breaking bugs in Arma3, but then again, I came into it late (last year ) and I mostly played it Insurgency Sandstorm style - short random skirmishes and downloaded missions. It's a pretty similar sandbox to IS, just with some optional story, more stealth, some teamwork with the AI, and longer engagement ranges. Although mods are a must with Arma3, I would not play without the three mods mentioned above. Thanks, I’ll bear that in mind.
