My other half and a couple of her friends basically just need an online folder in which they can deposit/share some documents and some images.

Unfortunately they don't all have google or dropbox, and to get them to all sign up to one of these I suspect would be a right old faff.

Is there a super simple (user friendly) alternative where you can just create a simple online folder, give some people a URL and then they can access it (drop photos in/amend docs)?

Why don't you sign-up / create a google or dropbox account for each of them and use either of those services instead?

Any non-authenticated services are a pretty big risk tbh

Could do I guess... Google would be the most obvious I guess.

With Microsoft onedrive you can create a folder, share it, create a link (with edit permissions) and then just send the link to all the people.

ah damn just tested it and they require a hotmail account to actually create any files in the folder.

Google docs are much better than dropbox for collaborative working, so you can see who did what and when.

They can sign up for an account using their current email address if they want. Not like it's hard to create a free account anyway!

+1 for Google Docs

You may come across some limitations to features if your a heavy excel user etc. But other than that it has quite a lot and great for collaborations or cloud storage of documents etc.

There are alternatives ways to do most things though, and apps script is really powerful if you want it!
