New problem now...trying to get ac3 to work on it. Didn't realise when i bought this board that it only has dts on it but he amp im trying to use only has dolby digital. Is it possible to play dts encoded films to play with ac3?
I use the KLite Codec pack, do I also need to install AC3filter on top of that to get ac3 working?
Got Dolby encoded files to play with AC3 but when i tried to configure AC3 to decode DTS, the films refused to play

Still gotta figure out the remote thing and some other stuff, but its working well and quiet and runs quite a lot of games, surprisingly well

AC3 IS Dolby
DTS won't play afaik, however there ar some soundcards that can decode DTS to analogue.
AC3Filter can decode Dolby and DTS no problems, but I've been having a lot of problems playing back mkv files due, i think to high cpu usage .... until last night 
For years now i have been using K-Lite codec pack - yes i know people say codec packs are evil and now i think im going to agree. So i removed it and other codec bits and pieces, got rid of ffdshow and installed CoreAVC and tried playing an mkv file.
Everything now plays perfectly, with 30-40% cpu usage, no sync problems whatsoever and much faster search times
Bin ffdshow and get CoreAVC!
All i have to now is install divx/xvid and figure out why media portal keeps hanging
