Need an external backup solution for lots of photos and music that are hogging up my internal HDDs.

Seems from this forum that the Icybox may be the way to go - I had a look but there are quite a few caddies, so simple question

part number for icybox and which reliable and quietish HDD combo please so I can order? (300 gbs)

USB, firewire preferred....

thanks for any help

Am

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB ST3320620A ATA-100 16MB Cache - OEM (HD-082-SE)
Very reliable, fairly fast and quiet - have a 80gb one (in an icybox) and i hardly notice it.
And
Icy Box External Enclosure IB-351UE-B-BL Firewire + USB Combo - Black/LED (CA-006-BT)
Or
Icy Box External Enclosure IB-360AStUS SATA + USB Combo - Black/LED (HD-004-BT) - in black if you so wish
Depends what you like the look of best. Those all have USB 2.0 and firewire.

To get it working all you need to do is format the drive in a PC and then stick it in the icybox. Very easy and straightforward to do.

S'ok. Only thing u need to make sure with is you get same IDE or sata.

Would like to see a speed comparison when/if you get it between the USB and firewire in real world tests. Have heard things in both directions.
