Hi,

Has anyone bought a "Simple Mobile" SIM card for the USA off of eBay? It looks like they use the T-Mobile network, so I'll be limited to GPRS/EDGE but I don't plan to do much browsing, if any.

I'm going there for 10 days from next Wednesday, and it would be helpful to have a local SIM as I'm staying with a friend.

Thanks :)

After some searching around, I'm just going to get a T-Mobile SIM delivered to my friend's apartment for $0.99 and then use the $2/day PAYG plan.

'Simple Mobile' looks like it's designed for people who want to make lots of international calls on the move.

Hey,

Was just about to post telling you the T-Mo deal is the best if you're only gonna be in town for a couple of weeks :)

Whereabouts are you going in the US? T-Mo were traditionally 2G on 1900MHz, and 3G on 1700MHz, but since they acquired a chunk of spectrum from AT&T, they have been refarming 3G onto 1900MHz as well (and will use the 1700MHz chunk for LTE).

Have a look here to see which cities have had their spectrum refarmed, and treat yourself to the $3/day deal if you need some fast data :p

Thanks very much for the info Su! I had no idea that the 1900MHz spectrum was now available on any GSM network in the US. I'll be in NYC and San Antonio, and it looks like 3G is available in both.

There's a T-Mobile shop 0.15 miles from my friend's apartment, so I'll pop in there on day 1 and sort it out.

Cheers :)
