Simple PDF form question

At least I think it's simple… what do I need to do to be able to author .pdf's that allow recipients to fill out a form (in the fields provided on the form) electronically and send them back to me.

Could I design something in Word say and then save it as a manipulatable .pdf?

You need Adobe Acrobat.
Not sure whether there is a free/cheap version as Adobe have control over PDF authoring and companies have to buy the licence to create such software. You can download a trial so you could give it a go at least.

Unless you can try an alternative and create something in word/excel. Do a google.
