all i need to do in java is take a bit out of a byte array of x length and use that bit as an object if anyone has two seconds to help it would be much appreciated

Use it as an object? You're going to have to be a bit more specific than that if you want any help mate. Got a few examples of what sort of thing you mean?

I was confused by the bits, thinking binary digit.

Do you want to take an array and copy a section of it into a new array?

java.util.Arrays has a method that should do what I think you want.

byte[] copyOfRange(byte[] original, int from, int to)
