Simple question - do I need a GPU for this board or not?

Putting together a very small, non-gaming system for very light office and programming work. No gaming. So I don't feel a need for a discrete GPU. But I'm confused.

▷ Gigabyte B550M AORUS PRO-P (AMD AM4) B550 Mic… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

This board has DP and HDMI output, great. But it also says "Not compatible with AMD Ryzen™ 5 3400G and Ryzen™ 3 3200G." Searching tells me that it's the G processors that are the "APUs" (apparently APU isn't a term that's used anymore). If I put a non-G processor in this board do I have graphics or no? Was thinking of pairing it with a 5600X and a couple of sticks of DDR4 RAM and a cheapish SSD.

▷ AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Six Core 4.6GHz (Socket AM4… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

▷ Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-2… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

▷ Samsung 980 Pro 250GB M.2 2280 PCI-e 4.0 x4 N… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

But I can't work out if I'd need a separate GPU or not.

Any replies welcome!

Yes you would need a discrete GPU as the 5600X has no integrated graphics

That's what I thought, but then why does the motherboard have onboard DP and HDMI ports if it's not compatible with the G series CPUs which are the ones that have integrated graphics in them? The 3400G and 3200G are the only AM4 Ryzen with integrated graphics, right? Or are there others?

Because there are other parts that do have integrated graphics (R7 PRO 4570G, R5 PRO 4560G, R3 4350G) even if they are difficult to get hold of.

There will likely also be some 5xxx "G" series chips at some point.

The 3200G/3400G also do look to be supported, but need a newer BIOS version, so may not be supported out of the box

Ah, thanks. I was just looking through the CPUs on OC and didn't see any other G ones than the two I mentioned. That's great news if they are supported though. I'll check it out.

Cheers!
