Simple question?

Would i see a big difference if i upgraded from a Q6600 @ 3.2 with 4 GB ram to an i5 2500k with 4 GB ram for gaming?

depends what your graphics card is. the Q6600 @3.2 is still a resonable processor (equivilant to the phenom II X4 955BE @stock i believe).

so, if you have a completely poo graphics card, you'd be better off upgrading the graphics card. if your graphics card is really good, then the processor upgrade would give a good increase in gaming performance

I have a Sapphire 5850 extreme @ 900/1200. Would i see a big difference with the 2500k?

At stock speeds there is quite a difference between them, would you OC the 2500k as well?

I'm thinking of getting an overclocked bundle @ 4.6.

Then the purchase of the processer would be the way to go as that graphics card is good.

So a bigger % overclock on a faster processor. You differences (In CPU at least) will be similar to those charts. Nice

What advice do you need that you haven't already been given?

Some games will benefit from a faster processor, others you won't see any difference.

I was just wondering if i got a 2500k bundle @ 4.6 would i see a big difference?

If not i will save myself £400.

Like I said, some games benefit from a faster processor:

Far Cry 2

and some don't:

Battlefield Bad Company 2

So the anser to the question "I was just wondering if i got a 2000k (whichever one that is) bundle @ 4.6 if i would see a big difference?" is sometimes.

And if you did upgrade buy the parts yourself, get a 2500K and overclock it yourself. You'll save £££'s.

You can see from the anandtech bench (Q6650 3GHz not too far from your 3.2GHz vs i5-2500K) that the i5 is better at stock - so onced overclocked to 4.5GHz+ you should see a noticable improvement.

You will save a lot of money buying individual parts and overclocking yourself.
