Simple switch/extender question

I want to boost my wifi upstairs. I have the virgin SH3 in the office which used to be the attached garage. It has a cavity wall between it and the rest of the house. It is "ok" upstairs but I would like better.

There is an Ethernet face-plate in the office which is connected to one in the third bedroom. I can just plug a cable into the router downstairs one end , then another cable into the face-plate upstairs for full speed. The other two bedrooms are also wired into this 4 port face-plate that just needs a switch to connect them all up.

What is the easiest way to get better wifi up there? I thought it would be just a matter of buying "something" plug it into the switch upstairs and hey presto same wifi network just better?

Simple question I know,but I don't know the answer. Cheers,Tony
