Sims 2 & EA: Daylight Robbery!

STFU moron. What an absolute **** you are for saying that. Really, probably THE most pathetic thing i've ever read on these forums. And that's really quite an achievement.

Sorry. I was hoping people wouldn't take offense because it's the only word in the dictionary which perfectly describes them.

I don't think its such a bad thing for a game to be "milked" with loads of expansion packs. If it was a game I loved e.g Deus Ex, Final Fantasy 7 etc then I would love loads of little expansions even if they only added say an hour of gameplay. If your really into a game its good to have the option to pay for more I know I certainly would.

Oh please dont tempt fate, so would you like a new add-on for deus ex that adds 30 new coat choices for JC? :D

the sad thing is my sister has every one of them :( and it came down to me to reinstall them after i formatted her PC

took me like 2 hours :o and then it ate up an insane amount of hard drive space

Would it be better if everyone just shut up and didn't say anything when they dislike things? There's nothing wrong with sharing your angst, and when it's a common opinion it's pretty obvious someone's doing something wrong. EA are charging too much for too little - we all know we don't *have* to buy the addons, but that doesn't make their pricing fair just because we don't have to pay it.

Like, if Thorpe Park started charging £70 per ticket because they added a couple of new rides. We don't have to pay it - we don't even have to go to their park. But that doesn't mean they're being fair - as a matter of fact, that'd be very unfair - just like a lot of people think EA are being with their prices for Sims addons :(

No - I was making my point known.
Would you prefer it if people simply agreed with what you have to say?
That would make life nice and easy for you wouldn't it?
Nobody is forcing anyone to buy any upgrade.
It's also not as if you have to buy any one of their upgrades to use any of the others.
So, EA release an upgrade with a price, tell you what you're getting in the upgrade and leave the choice on purchase down to their customer.

This is so bad of EA is it?
What do you want them to do exactly - because I, like many others in this thread seem to think that there isn't really much else EA can do.
Maybe they could force you NOT to buy their products.
Their shreholders might not be happy, but there.

I don't understand how EA are being unfair.
Before you simply post the same again then please prepare to spell it out.
I am intelligent, I do use my brain a lot but obviously I'm missing something you aren't.
Now if EA were in any way forcing a purchase on somebody I would understand your argument, as far as I can see they aren't so you're going to have to help me out here.

stoofa you wait till EA kills one of your favourite developers or games

dont think you will be so fast to jump to their defence

They ruined C&C Generals but got right back on the horse with C&C3.

They make stupid movie tie ins and some generally rubbish products, but, a Fifa every year and something to go along with the Harry Potter movies is a sensible business decision as these games sell.

If someone wanted to buy my toenail clipping for a fiver, I would sell it, and I have to say, they are poor quality toenails. Does that make me as bad as EA?

These products wouldn't be on the shelf if people didn't buy them so if you want to complain, talk to the stupid people who buy them.

C&C3 in my opinion is absolutely brilliant, Burnout has got better each time, Battlefield has got better each time also. Even Fifa has become a really good game. Black was a good game. Need for speed is good and kinda always has been. I dont remember them killing anyone to make that. Now so they make the sims which sells horrendously well yet does garner some good reviews. Am I missing something or are some people taking it rather personally, especially when comparing it to something like Cancer! Dont get me wrong what I have said is my opinion, but game reviews and sales do reflect it.

I bought the first ever Sims, never bought another one after that. It was so boring, I'd make a house and garden and quit!
Same :p
Building houses was the most fun thing in the original Sims. I just used to use the money cheat and just build a huge, awesome house.

Do you work for EA?

OK. Fine, maybe I'm being extravagant complaining about the Sims expansion packs, because many people have a point; EA do force us to buy them. What I really do despise is how they acquire and destroy other developers and ruin their products in the process.

The SIms is the biggest con ever.

I bought the orginal once and found out i had to buy the expansion pack just to get bloody cealing lights!!! I took it back and got the deluxe version to get the lights. They make it so you have to buy the expansions just to get things you need!

You NEEDED lights in your fake house looking after your fake people and EA are stupid for putting it on another disc?

I've been out of gaming for awhile now but still have the odd game here and there. This may sound weird but I started to hate EA games a long time ago, its not just because of the gameplay/graphics either. It's hard to explain, I rembermber playing an EA game ages ago (cant even remember the name!) and it just felt fake, like it was some kind of commercial.

EA does'nt compete with the real great games such as Baldurs gate and Planescape torment - they just dont compare.

obviously he need it to get the full gaming experience

its like buying a racing game with only the tracks and no cars

then needing to get another expansion disc just to get some cars
then another disc to add some opponents for you to race against etc

of course no one is forcing you to buy it doesn't mean its ok tho

btw i despise The Sims just hate EA even tho occaisonally they do put out a good game or two

not quite, you can still play the sims without ceiling lights, yet without cars you can't have a racing game. Its just an extension of the original game, you don't NEED it.
