Singapore Grand Prix 2012, Marina Bay - Race 14/20

We'll know when the FIA reports come out. They contain lits of all the bits that were changed in parc ferme.

If he has, they'll be allowed to fix them.

Only happen if they have to change the engine or gearbox or a setup change. Keeping the same spec car parts and setup won't be a problem.

Don't think he can change tyres without penalty?

So, fast on the low downforce circuits and now proven to be fast on the high downforce circuits :D What a lap by Lewis, absolutely stunning.

I'm thinking more and more Hamilton is moving teams.

Have to give it to maldanaldo. That was an impressive lap. I'd like to see him at ferrari. I don'tlike him and iI don't like ferrari :-P

Can change to a set with the same amount of wear on them iirc if one is damaged.

But was the set he went out on and clipped the wall the same set he went out and did his fastest lap? Can't get that info, which is a shame. It should all be released at the end of the weekend.

Kind of think that should not be allowed. If you damage the tyre it is your fault.

Yeah fair point he was probably on a new set.

Stopped watching at end to watch footie, I take it Lewis or the team has hinted that something might be broken, any idea's what?

Some cars did as expected, Ferrari were too slow and Massa wasn't actually much slower than Alonso, Button noticeably slower than Hamilton, Vettel looked awesome in Q2, no idea where that went for Q3, was he just about the only car that set a time that went slower than Q2? Maldonado... having that device that acts as a magnet to Hamilton really does help in qualifying but is just too effective in the race :p

Maldonado does seem genuinely quick but his insistence on hitting anyone around him in races pretty much suggests he shouldn't be in racing and won't ever be a top driver. Sometimes you do get the impression with two quality drivers Williams might actually be a half decent car.

As long as Hamilton can keep it out of range of Maldonado in the first few corners then its hard to think the car/his pace won't win him the race quite easily.

Of course someone will almost certainly hit a wall, drop crap all over the track and need a safety car, if that happens at the wrong time on old tires vs someone on new tires anything could happen.

Are there statistically more safety cars at tracks like this than other tracks?

Oh Shock horror...

Jenson couldn't find the balance...

Has he tried looking behind the fridge? Anytime I lose something it always seems to end up behind the fridge.

What? I have said nothing anti-Lewis, he hit the wall on his 2nd run, even Brundle said McLaren would be worried about it.

So what was anti-Lewis?
the fact you arent taking photos with a massive lens showing the sun shining out of his backside?

great lap by hamilton though!

Hamilton should easily win this one. Looking very good for the championship, that car is fast!

Agreed on all counts.

If it were any one other than Alonso (in the Ferrari), I would put Hamilton now as title favourite, but as we have seen this year (and in 2010), Alonso does not need to be in the fastest car on the grid to win races and outscore his opponents.

McLaren have done pretty much all they can.
They have given Hamilton the best car (0.9s faster than the Ferrari).
Now, it's up to Hamilton.

Still think Alonso can get on the podium but Ferrari really need to get the car working much better from Suzuka if he has any chance of winning the title.

That's alright then. :)
