single display performance ? new gpu

Hi, I will be building a new gaming rig soon and was wondering which GPU would be suitable for single display performance at resolution of 1920x1080.
I know NVidia have a function in the settings to set it to single display performance.

I know most GPUs are targeted at multi screens but I don't run multi so I guess I wont need a really high end card.

how many gig do I need of memory for single display ?

please no suggestions for voltage locked cards, would like to oc the card in near future.

They aren't. You have the wrong idea about graphics cards. Every graphics card is designed for single display but most are capable of multi display.

Figure out your budget, look at cards within your budget, read benchmarks on their performance for the games you play and then make your decision.
