Single drive on an array controller

I've used up all my IDE channels but my motherboard has an onboard highpoint raid controller. Is is possible to hook up a hard drive to it and run it as normal?

I connected it up and the controller detects it but it does not show up in windows...

In the bios there should be an option marked configure sata devices as raid/ahci/enhanced ide. Any chance its set to raid?

When you say it doesnt show up on windows, is this a previously formatted drive or a blank one? Does it appear in Disk management [run compmgmt.msc to find this if in doubt

If its either of these then the fix is quick and easy, otherwise I wish you luck

Cheers I've sorted the problem now it turned out to be a driver issue.
