Single HDD to RAID1

If I migrate my computer from a single WD5000AAKS to 2 x WD 5000AAKS in RAID1 config. will this erase my data?

My RAID controller is the intel one built into my Abit IP35 motherboard.

(EDIT - Am I better off setting everything in AHCI mode instead? Clean install isn't a problem.)

The Intel Matrix Storage Manager console thing should support migrating from a single drive to RAID1 however you'll need to get the system booting from the RAID drivers with the SATA controller in RAID mode first. There are guides out there for swapping the SATA controller from IDE mode to AHCI mode, I assume that it's not a huge step to take those instructions and go from IDE to RAID.
